OCD in action...

I think everyone has some OCD in their personality, or at least people I associated with, like, or related to (sorry my familia). I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with having a touch of OCD, it keeps things interesting and fresh.... and maybe slightly neurotic.

I recently got a new truck and I really like it... well... everything except the MPG gauge that is built into the odometer/tripodometer. I'm 100% obsessed with it! It has changed my driving style, routes, and overall speed (lower), all in an effort to maximize my MPG. I could try and say it's to be sure I'm doing my part to 'help the environment' but when my best so average for a tank of gas so far is 16.5MPG it's hard to make that idea work. It's all about my obsession with setting 'the record'.

It's so bad, that I get upset with other drivers that brake on a down hill or don't try to maximize their speed prior to an uphill. I get more fidgety than normal in traffic b/c time with the engine idling means those 0.1 of a mile average will just tick away while I watch.

Any constructive ideas on how I can maximize my average MPG? Other than sell the truck etc etc...

Come-on folks, don't let me down!
